Otolith
Un otolito, chiamato anche statoconium o otoconio, è una struttura nel sacculo o utricolo dell'orecchio interno, in particolare nel labirinto vestibolare dei vertebrati. Il saccule e l'utricle, a loro volta, insieme fanno gli organi otolitici. Sono sensibili alla gravità e all'accelerazione lineare. A causa del loro orientamento nella testa, l'utricolo è sensibile a una modifica del movimento orizzontale e il saccule fornisce informazioni sull'accelerazione verticale.
