Pellagra è una malattia di vitamina più frequentemente causata da una mancanza cronica di niacina (vitamina B3 o sinonimo: vitamina PP (da: Anti-Pellagra)) nella dieta. Può essere causata da una ridotta assunzione di niacina o triptofano, e possibilmente da eccessiva assunzione di leucina. Può anche derivare da alterazioni del metabolismo delle proteine nei disturbi quali la sindrome del carcinoide. Una carenza della lisina dell'amminoacido può portare ad una carenza di niacina.
