La storia post-classica è il periodo di tempo che ha seguito immediatamente la storia antica. A seconda del continente, l'epoca generalmente cade tra gli anni AD 200-600 e AD 1200-1500. Le principali civiltà classiche che seguono l'epoca sono Han Cina, Impero Romano Occidentale, Impero Gupta e Impero Sasaniano. L'epoca post-classica è stata seguita dall'epoca moderna e costituisce il periodo intermedio in una divisione di tre periodi della storia del mondo: antichi, post-classici e moderni. Si pensa che l'epoca sia caratterizzata da invasioni dell'Asia centrale, lo sviluppo delle grandi religioni mondiali e le reti di scambi commerciali e di contatto militare tra le civiltà. Il nome di questa epoca della storia deriva dall'antichità classica dell'Europa. Nella storia europea, il "post-classico" è sinonimo di epoca medievale o medievale, periodo storico della storia del V secolo al XV secolo. In Europa, la caduta dell'Impero Romano Occidentale ha visto lo spopolamento, la deurbanizzazione e l'apprendimento limitato delle "Età Oscura", ma si è ripresentato gradualmente sotto le istituzioni del feudalesimo e di una potente Chiesa Cattolica.
