Nell'ecologia, la predazione è un'interazione biologica dove un predatore nutre la sua preda. I predatori possono o non uccidere la loro preda prima di nutrirli, ma l'atto di predazione spesso comporta la morte della preda e l'eventuale assorbimento del tessuto della preda attraverso il consumo. Altre categorie di consumo sono erbivori, micofagi e detritivi, il consumo di materiale organico morto. Le pressioni selettive imposte l'una all'altra spesso portano a una corsa di armi evolutive tra preda e predatore, con conseguente adattamenti anti-predatori.
