Proscimmia
I prosimiani sono un tipo di primato che comprende lemuri, loris, bushbabies e tarsiers, ma non semplici, ad es. Scimmie e scimmie. Essi sono considerati come tali che hanno caratteristiche più "primitive" di quelle delle scimmie e delle scimmie. I prosimiani sono gli unici primati nativi del Madagascar, ma si trovano anche in tutta l'Africa e in Asia. Ad eccezione dei tarsiers, tutti i prosimani esistenti si trovano nella sottostante Strepsirrhini. Poiché i simi non sono inclusi nel gruppo prosimiano, anche se scendono anche dall'antichità comune più recente del prosimiano, i prosimiani sono un gruppo paraphyletico e non un clade. Gli adapiformi sono un raggruppamento estinto che erano sia prosimiani che strepsirrhines. Le omomyiforme sono un altro gruppo estinto di prosimiani, ma si crede che siano asterina, strettamente legati ai calciatori, ma un outgroup al resto degli haplorine. Il termine "prosimian" non è più utilizzato nella tassonomia ufficiale, ma viene ancora utilizzato per illustrare l'ecologia comportamentale dei tarsiers rispetto agli altri primati.
