La riprovazione, nella teologia cristiana, è un corollario della dottrina calvinistica o ampiamente agostiniana di elezione incondizionata che insegna che alcuni dell'umanità sono predestinati da Dio per la salvezza. Pertanto, il resto rimane legato alla loro natura caduta e ad una certa dannazione. Questo stesso stato di incredulità è anche conosciuto come riprovazione. Nella terminologia calvinista, i non eletti sono spesso indicati come il riprovato. Allo stesso modo, quando un peccatore è così indurito da non sentire alcun rimorso o sospetto di coscienza, è considerato come un segno di riprovazione. La parola inglese, reprovata, è dalla prova latina della radice, derivata dunque dal latino, il reprobato, l'opposto dell'approvazione.
