Semiotica
Semiotica è lo studio del significato. Ciò include lo studio di segni e processi di segno, indicazione, designazione, somiglianza, analogia, metafora, simbolismo, significazione e comunicazione. La semiotica è strettamente legata al campo della linguistica, che, da parte sua, studia più in dettaglio la struttura e il significato del linguaggio. Tuttavia, come diversa dalla linguistica, la semiotica studia anche sistemi di segno non linguistico. La semiotica è spesso divisa in tre settori: ▪ Semantica: relazione tra i segni e le cose a cui si riferiscono; Loro denotata o significato ▪ Sintetica: rapporti tra i segni in strutture formali ▪ Pragmatiche: relazione tra segni e agenti che usano i segni Semiotici sono spesso considerati come aventi importanti dimensioni antropologiche; Per esempio, Umberto Eco propone che ogni fenomeno culturale possa essere studiato come comunicazione. Tuttavia, alcuni semiotici si concentrano sulle dimensioni logiche della scienza. Esaminano le aree appartenenti anche alle scienze della vita - come ad esempio gli organismi predispongono e si adattano alla loro nicchia semiotica nel mondo.
