Funzione di stato
Nella termodinamica, una funzione di stato, funzione dello stato, quantità di stato o variabile di stato è una proprietà di un sistema che dipende solo dallo stato attuale del sistema e non dal modo in cui il sistema ha acquisito tale stato. Una funzione di stato descrive lo stato di equilibrio di un sistema. Ad esempio, l'energia interna, l'entalpia e l'entropia sono le quantità di stato perché descrivono quantitativamente uno stato di equilibrio di un sistema termodinamico, indipendentemente dal modo in cui il sistema è arrivato in quel stato. Al contrario, il lavoro meccanico e il calore sono quantità di processo perché i loro valori dipendono dalla transizione specifica tra due stati di equilibrio.
