Lo Stoolball è uno sport che risale almeno al XV secolo, originario di Sussex, in Inghilterra meridionale. Può essere un antenato di cricket, baseball e rounders, infatti Stoolball è talvolta chiamato "Cricket in the air". Tradizionalmente è stato giocato da milkmaids che hanno utilizzato i loro sgabelli da mungitura come un "wicket". La popolarità del gioco è scomparsa fin dagli anni '60, ma è ancora giocata a livello locale di campionato a Sussex, Kent, Surrey e Midlands. La National Stoolball Association è stata costituita nel 1979 per promuovere ed espandere lo stoolball. Il gioco è stato ufficialmente riconosciuto come uno sport dal Consiglio sportivo all'inizio del 2008. L'associazione nazionale dello Stoolball ha cambiato il suo nome in Stoolball Inghilterra nel 2010 sulla consulenza del Consiglio sportivo ed è stato riconosciuto come organo governativo nazionale per stoolball in Inghilterra nel 2011. Alcune varianti sono ancora giocate in alcune scuole. Le squadre possono essere solo donne o miste. Ci sono campionati di donne a Sussex, Surrey e Kent e leghe miste a Sussex.
