Nella linguistica, la nominalizzazione o la nominalizzazione è l'uso di un verbo, di un aggettivo o di un avverbio come capo di una frase sostantiva, con o senza trasformazione morfologica. Il termine può anche riferirsi specificamente al processo di produzione di un sostantivo da un'altra parte del discorso mediante l'aggiunta di appendici derivanti. La nominalizzazione avviene in lingue in tutto il mondo. Alcune lingue permettono solo che i verbi siano usati come sostantivi, mentre altri richiedono una qualche forma di trasformazione morfologica. L'inglese ha casi di entrambi.
