Stratum (linguistica)
Nella linguistica, uno strato o uno strato è un linguaggio che influenza, o è influenzato da un altro attraverso il contatto. Un substrato o un substrato è un linguaggio che ha un potere o un prestigio più basso di un altro, mentre un superstrato o una superstrata è il linguaggio che ha più potenza o prestigio. Sia substrato che superstrativo influenzano le altre lingue, ma in modi diversi. Un adstrato o un adstrato si riferisce ad una lingua che è in contatto con un'altra lingua in una popolazione vicina senza avere un prestigio superiore o inferiore. Il concetto di "strato" è stato sviluppato per la prima volta dal linguista italiano Graziadio Isaia Ascoli e nel 1932 è stato conosciuto in due lingue dal mondo inglesi da due diversi autori. Quindi, entrambi i termini si riferiscono a una situazione in cui un linguaggio intrusivo si stabilisce nel Territorio di un altro, tipicamente come risultato della migrazione. Se si applica il caso del superstrato o il substrato, normalmente sarà solo evidente dopo diverse generazioni, durante la quale esiste la lingua intrusiva all'interno di una cultura della diaspora.
