L'acido solforico è un acido minerale fortemente corrosivo con la formula molecolare H2SO4. Brucia la cornea e può portare a cecità permanente se spruzzata sugli occhi. Di conseguenza, le precauzioni di sicurezza devono essere rispettate con attenzione durante la manipolazione. Inoltre, è vapore acqueo igroscopico, facilmente assorbente dall'aria.
