CHE SIGNIFICA TARGUMIC IN INGLESE
Targum
I targumim furono le parafrasi, le spiegazioni e le espansioni delle scritture ebraiche che un rabbino avrebbe dato nel linguaggio comune degli ascoltatori, che durante il periodo di questa pratica era comunemente ma non esclusivamente aramaico. Ciò era diventato necessario alla fine del secolo scorso prima dell'era cristiana, poiché il linguaggio comune era in transizione e l'ebraico è stato utilizzato per poco più di istruzione e adorazione. Alla fine, divenne necessario dare spiegazioni e parafrasi nel linguaggio comune dopo che si leggeva la Scrittura ebraica. Il nome Targum deriva dalla radice quadrilaterale "trgm" semitica, e il termine "Targummanu" si riferisce a "traduttore". Essa si verifica nella Bibbia ebraica in Ezra 4:18 "Il documento che hai mandato è stato letto in traduzione prima di me". Oltre a indicare le traduzioni della bibbia, il termine Targum indica anche la resa orale delle lezioni della Bibbia in sinagoga, mentre il traduttore della Bibbia è semplicemente chiamato come hammeturgem. Altrimenti il significato "tradurre" il verbo Tirgem significa anche "spiegare". La parola Targum si riferisce alla "traduzione" e all'argomentazione o alla "spiegazione".
