Transponder
In telecomunicazione, un transponder è uno dei due tipi di dispositivi. Nella navigazione aerea o nell'identificazione della frequenza radio, un transponder di volo è un dispositivo che emette un segnale di identificazione in risposta ad un segnale ricevuto interrogato. In un satellite di comunicazione, un transponder raccoglie i segnali su un intervallo di frequenze di uplink e li ricompone su un diverso set di frequenze verso il basso per ricevitori sulla Terra, spesso senza modificare il contenuto del segnale o dei segnali ricevuti. Il termine è un portmanteau per il trasmettitore-responder. Esso è variamente abbreviato come XPDR, XPNDR, TPDR o TP.
