Stylidium
Stylidium è un genere di piante dicotiledoniche che appartengono alla famiglia Stylidiaceae. Il nome di genere Stylidium deriva dal greco στύλος o stylos, che si riferisce alla struttura distintiva riproduttiva che i suoi fiori possiedono. L'impollinazione si ottiene attraverso l'uso del "trigger" sensibile, che comprende gli organi riproduttivi maschili e femminili fusi in una colonna floreale che scatta rapidamente in avanti in risposta al tocco, coprendo in modo innocente l'insetto nel polline. La maggior parte delle circa 300 specie si trovano solo in Australia, rendendola il quinto più grande genere in quel paese. I trigliceridi sono considerati protocarnivori o carnivori poiché i tricomi ghiandolari che coprono la scape e il fiore possono intrappolare, uccidere e digerire piccoli insetti con enzimi proteasi prodotti dalla pianta.
