Sistema urinario
Il sistema urinario, noto anche come sistema renale, è costituito dai due reni, ureteri, vescica e uretra. Ogni rene è costituito da milioni di unità funzionali chiamate nefroni. Lo scopo del sistema renale è quello di eliminare i rifiuti dal corpo, regolare il volume e la pressione del sangue, controllare i livelli di elettroliti e metaboliti e regolare il pH del sangue. I reni hanno un'ampia vasca di sangue attraverso le arterie renali che lasciano i reni attraverso la vena renale. Dopo la filtrazione del sangue e dell'ulteriore lavorazione, i rifiuti uscirono dal rene attraverso i ureteri, i tubi fatti di fibre muscolari lisce che propongono l'urina verso la vescica urinaria, dove vengono immagazzinate e successivamente espulse dal corpo dalla urina. Il sistema urinario femminile e maschile è molto simile, differente solo nella lunghezza dell'uretra. L'urina si forma nei reni attraverso una filtrazione del sangue. L'urina viene quindi passata attraverso i ureteri alla vescica, dove viene memorizzata. Durante la minzione l'urina viene passata dalla vescica attraverso l'uretra all'esterno del corpo.
