Anello di vortice
Un anello di vortice, chiamato anche vortice toroidale, è un vortex a forma di toro in un fluido; Cioè una regione in cui il liquido spinse per lo più intorno ad una linea di asse immaginaria che forma un ciclo chiuso. Il flusso dominante in un anello di vortice è detto toroidale, più precisamente poloidale. Gli anelli di vortice sono abbondanti nei flussi turbolenti di liquidi e gas, ma sono raramente notati a meno che il movimento del fluido non sia rivelato dalle particelle sospese - come negli anelli di fumo che vengono spesso prodotti intenzionalmente o accidentalmente dai fumatori. Gli anelli di vortice Fiery sono anche un trucco comunemente prodotto dai mangiatori di fuoco. Gli anelli vortici visibili possono anche essere formati dalla cottura di certe artiglierie, nelle nuvole di funghi e in microburst.
