L'Organizzazione Mondiale della Sanità è un'agenzia specializzata delle Nazioni Unite che si occupa della salute pubblica internazionale. È stato istituito il 7 aprile 1948, con sede a Ginevra, in Svizzera. L'OMS è membro del gruppo di sviluppo delle Nazioni Unite. Il suo predecessore, l'Organizzazione per la Salute, era un'agenzia della Lega delle Nazioni. La responsabilità principale era quella di aiutare chi ha bisogno di assistenza medica.
