L'albero di Joshua è un esempio di un xerophyte. Un xerophyte è una specie di pianta che si è adattata a sopravvivere in un ambiente con poca acqua, come un deserto o una regione coperta di ghiaccio o neve nelle Alpi o nell'Artico.
