금·니켈·텅스텐·몰리브덴·바나듐 등 금속의 엷은 막을 만들어 쇼트키형의 장벽을 형성시킨 다이오드로 갈륨비소의 반도체 기판 위에 진공증착(眞空蒸着)·전기도금, 화합물로부터의 분해 등의 방법에 의해 만든다. 마이크로파·밀리파의 작은 신호발진장치 및 검파·믹서·파라메트론용 장치로 쓰인다.
