I founded Atari in my garage in Santa Clara while at Stanford. When I was in school, I took a lot of business classes. I was really fascinated by economics. You end up having to be a marketeer, finance maven and a little bit of a technologist in order to get a business going.
I don't believe in providence and fate, as a technologist I am used to reckoning with the formulae of probability.
People say to me that I'm a role model in technology, but it makes me laugh, because I'm not a technologist, I'm a journalist - that's my background.

I started out as an artist, and I continue to think of myself as an artist first, and a technologist and entrepreneur after that.
As a technologist, I'm obsessed with searching for the next killer app.
