१. बरमा की खानों से निकला
हुआ एक अकार का गोंद जैसा पदार्थ ।
वीशेष—यह रंग में पीला होता है और औषध में काम आता है । चीन देश में इसको पिघलाकर माला की गुरियाँ, मुँहनाल
इत्यादि वस्तुएँ बनाते हैं । इसकी वारनिश भी बनती है ।
इसे कपड़े आदि पर रगड़कर यदि घास या तिनके के पास
रखें तो उसे चुंबक की तरह पकड़ लेता है ।
२. एक बड़ा सदाबहार वृक्ष जिसका गोंद राल या धूप
कहलाता है ।
विशेष—यह पेड़ पशि्चमी घाट की पहाड़ियों में बहुत होता है ।
इसे सफेद डामर भी कहते हैं । पेड़ से पोंछकर राल निकालते
हैं । ताड़पीन के तेल में यह अच्छी तरह घुल जाता है और
वारनिश के काम में आता है । इसकी माला भी बनती है ।
उत्तरी भारत में स्त्रियाँ इसे तेल में पकाकर टिकली चपकाने
का गोंद बनाती हैं । अर्क बनाने में भी कहीं कहीं इसका
उपयोग होता है ।
