Trzy lata po wojnie w brytyjskiej, francuskiej i amerykańskiej strefie okupacyjnej Niemiec było 370 obozów, w Austrii - 120, zaś we Włoszech - 25 obozów, w których w sumie żyło 800 000 uchodźców.
