Aspergillus / ˌæspərdʒɪləs /는 전세계 여러 기후에서 발견되는 수백 가지 곰팡이 종으로 구성된 속입니다. Aspergillus는 이탈리아 성직자이자 생물 학자 Pier Antonio Micheli에 의해 1729 년에 처음으로 분류되었습니다. 현미경으로 균류를 관찰 한 Micheli는 라틴어 spargere에서 aspergillum의 모양을 생각 나게하고, 그에 따라 속 (genus)을 명명했습니다. 오늘날 "aspergillum"은 모든 Aspergilli에 공통적 인 무성 포자 형성 구조의 이름이기도합니다. 종의 1/3 정도가 성적 단계로 알려져있다.
