커패시턴스는 신체가 전기 요금을 저장할 수있는 능력입니다. 전기적으로 충전 될 수있는 물체는 정전 용량을 나타냅니다. 에너지 저장 장치의 일반적인 형태는 평행 판 커패시터이다. 평행 판 커패시터에서 커패시턴스는 도체 판의 표면적에 정비례하고 판 사이의 이격 거리에 반비례합니다. 플레이트상의 전하가 + q와 -q 인 경우, V는 플레이트 사이의 전압을, 커패시턴스 C는 전압 / 전류 관계를 나타냅니다. 커패시턴스는 전도체와 유전체의 유전율 이것은 전도체와 전하 사이의 전위차와는 무관합니다. 커패시턴스의 SI 단위는 영어 물리학자인 Michael Faraday의 이름을 따서 명명 된 패러드입니다. 1 개의 패러 드 (1-farad) 커패시터는 1 개의 전기 요금으로 충전 될 때, 그 플레이트 사이에 1 볼트의 전위차를 갖는다. 역사적으로, 패러드는 전기적으로나 물리적으로 모두 불편할 정도로 큰 부대로 여겨졌다.
