십이지장충
Hookworm은 개, 고양이 또는 인간과 같은 포유류 일 수있는 숙주의 소장에 사는 기생충 선충이다. 두 종류의 훅 벌레가 일반적으로 인간, Ancylostoma 십이지장 및 Necator americanus에 감염됩니다. 북아프리카, 인도, 남유럽에서는 십이지장이 우세하고 미주, 사하라 이남 아프리카, 동남아시아, 중국, 인도네시아에서는 N. americanus가 우세합니다. A. braziliense와 A. tubaeforme 종은 고양이를 감염시키는 반면, A. caninum은 개과 동물을 감염시킵니다. Uncinaria stenocephala는 개와 고양이를 감염시킵니다. A. caninum은 사람을 감염 시켰고 1988 년부터 1992 년까지 호주의 Brisbane에서 150 건의 사례가보고되었습니다. Hookworms은 거대한 회충보다 훨씬 작고, 회충 감염으로 관찰되는 조직 이동 및 기계적 장애의 합병증은 십이지장충 감염에서 덜 빈번합니다. 십이지장충 감염의 가장 큰 위험은 빈혈이며, 장의 철분 손실에 이차적입니다. 웜은 혈액을 심하게 빨아 내고 점막을 손상시킵니다. 그러나 대변에서의 출혈은 눈에 띄지 않습니다.
