점화기 (ignitron)는 1930 년대부터 정류기로 사용되는 가스 충전 튜브의 일종입니다. Westinghouse에 고용 된 Joseph Slepian에 의해 발명 된 웨스팅 하우스 (Westinghouse)는 "Ignitron"이란 상표권을 소유 한 최초의 제조업체였습니다. Ignitron은 수은 아크 밸브와 밀접한 관련이 있지만 아크가 점화되는 방식이 다릅니다. 그들은 thyratrons와 유사하게 기능한다; 점화기 전극에 대한 트리거링 펄스는 장치를 "켜고", 음극과 양극 전극 사이에 높은 전류가 흐르도록합니다. 이 스위치를 켠 후에는 소자를 비 도통 상태로 복원하기 위해 애노드를 통과하는 전류를 0으로 줄여야합니다. 그들은 중공업 애플리케이션에서 고전류를 스위칭하는 데 사용됩니다.
