광전류는 복사 전력에 노출 된 결과로 포토 다이오드와 같은 감광 장치를 통해 흐르는 전류입니다. 광전류는 광전자, 광 방출 또는 광전지 효과의 결과로서 발생할 수있다. 광전류는 눈사태 포토 다이오드 (avalanche photodiode)에서 발생하는 것과 같이인가 된 필드의 영향 하에서 이온과 광자 간의 상호 작용에 의해 발생하는 내부 이득에 의해 향상 될 수있다. 적절한 방사선이 사용될 때, 광전류는 방사선의 강도에 직접적으로 비례한다.
