Polytene 염색체는 표준 염색체에서 발달 한 Drosophila melanogaster의 타액선에서 흔히 볼 수있는 크기가 큰 염색체입니다. 전문화 된 세포는 거대 폴리 테인 염색체를 형성하면서 세포 분열없이 세포 복제를 반복하여 DNA 복제를 반복합니다. Polytene 염색체는 여러 라운드의 복제가 함께 진행되는 많은 자매 염색 분체를 생성 할 때 형성됩니다.
