역전사 효소는 역전사 (reverse transcription)라고 불리는 과정 인 RNA 주형으로부터 상보 적 DNA를 생성하는 데 사용되는 효소입니다. RT는 레트로 바이러스의 복제에 필요하며 RT 억제제는 항 레트로 바이러스 약물로 널리 사용됩니다. RT 활성은 또한 염색체 말단 및 일부 이동성 유전 요소의 복제와 관련된다. 레트로 바이러스 RT는 세 가지 순차적 인 생화학 적 활성을 가지고 있습니다 : ▪ RNA 의존적 인 DNA 중합 효소, ▪ 리보 뉴 클레아 제 H, ▪ DNA 의존적 인 DNA 중합 효소. 이러한 활동은 레트로 바이러스가 단일 가닥의 게놈 RNA를 숙주 게놈에 통합 될 수있는 이중 가닥의 cDNA로 변환하여 박멸하기가 매우 어려울 수있는 장기간의 감염을 일으킬 수 있습니다. 분자 클로닝, RNA 시퀀싱, 폴리머 라제 연쇄 반응 또는 게놈 분석에 사용하기 위해 RNA를 DNA로 전환시키는 실험실에서 동일한 반응 순서가 널리 사용됩니다.
