toroidal vortex라고도 불리는 소용돌이 반지는 유체에서 원환 체 모양의 소용돌이입니다. 즉 유체가 폐 루프를 형성하는 가상 축선 주위로 대부분 스핀하는 영역이다. 소용돌이 반지의 지배적 인 흐름은 토 로이드 (toroidal),보다 정확하게는 폴로이드 (poloidal)라고 불린다. 소용돌이 반지는 액체와 기체의 난류가 많지만 유체의 움직임이 정지 된 입자에 의해 드러나지 않는 한 눈에 띄지 않습니다. 예를 들어 흡연자가 의도적으로 또는 우발적으로 자주 생성하는 연기 고리처럼 나타납니다. 불타는 소용돌이 반지는 또한 불에 타는 사람들에 의해 일반적으로 생산되는 속임수입니다. 눈에 보이는 소용돌이 반지도 특정 포병의 발사, 버섯 구름 및 마이크로 버스트에 의해 형성 될 수 있습니다. 보텍스 링은 일반적으로 링의 평면에 수직 인 방향으로 움직이는 경향이 있으며 링의 내부 에지는 외부 에지보다 빨리 앞으로 움직입니다. 유체의 정지 된 몸체 내에서, 와류 링은 상대적으로 장거리 이동하여 회전하는 유체를 운반 할 수있다.
