재료의 항복 강도 또는 항복점은 엔지니어링 및 재료 과학에서 재료가 소 성적으로 변형되기 시작하는 응력으로 정의됩니다. 항복점 이전에 재료는 탄성 변형되고 적용된 응력이 제거되면 원래 모양으로 돌아갑니다. 일단 항복점이 지나면 변형의 일부분은 영구적이며 되돌릴 수 없습니다. 주요 응력의 3 차원 공간에서 무한 수의 항복점이 항복 표면을 형성합니다. 일반적으로 적용 할 수있는 하중의 상한을 나타내므로 구성 요소를 설계 할 때 항복점에 대한 지식이 중요합니다. 또한 단조, 압연 또는 프레싱과 같은 많은 재료 생산 기술을 제어하는 데 중요합니다. 구조 공학에서 이것은 일반적으로 좌굴을 가속화하지 않으면 치명적인 실패 또는 궁극적 인 실패를 일으키지 않는 연성 파괴 모드입니다.
