소비톨
헥소스(육탄당) 알코올의 일종으로, 특히 장미과의 열매나 어떤 종류의 홍조(紅藻)에 다량으로 함유되어 있는데, 천연으로 존재하는 것은 D-소비톨(D-글루시톨이라고도 한다)이다. L-글루코스를 화학적으로 환원시켜서 생기는 것이 L-소비톨이다.
