에뮤 버드 (Emu Bird)는 호주에서 가장 큰 토종 조류이며, 쥐, 타조가 살고있는 세계에서 두 번째로 큰 비 비행 조류입니다. 이 새는 Dromaius 속의 유일한 전문가이기도합니다. 태즈 매니아에 거주하는 Emu 종들은 1788 년 호주의 유럽 정착지에서 박멸되었다. 호주 본토에서 아종의 분포는 이제 인간 활동의 영향을받습니다. 어떤 시점에서, 많은 Emu 새들은 호주 동부 해안에서 발견되지만, 현재이 새들은 거의 발견되지 않습니다. 반대로, 대륙 내부의 가축을위한 농업과 수자원 개발은 건조 지역에 거주하는 Emu의 거주지를 추가했다. 에뮤 조류는 호주 본토에서 아직도 풍부합니다. 비록이 새들이 조밀 한 산림뿐만 아니라 인구 밀집 지역이나 과도한 지역을 피합니다. Pada suatu ketika, banyak burung Emu terdapat di pantai timur Australia tetapi kini, burung ini jarang didapati di sana; sebaliknya perkembangan pertanian dan pembekalan air untuk ternakan di kawasan pedalaman benua ini telah menambahkan tempat kediaman burung Emu di kawasan-kawasan yang kering. Burung Emu masih banyak terdapat di tanah besar Australia, walaupun burung ini mengelakkan kawasan-kawasan yang penuh sesak atau terlalu kering, serta hutan-hutan padat. Burung Emu mempunyai bulu lembut yang berwarna coklat dan boleh mencapai ketinggian sebanyak dua meter dan berat sebanyak 45 kilogram.
