Danciu (Șeineanu; Candrea), din
țig. den či „donnez-moi quelque chose” (Graur 147), sau din
mag. dancs „murdar” (Drăganu,
Dacor., IV, 1553); ultimele explicații nu se potrivesc cu folosirea acestui cuvînt chiar de țigani.
