एक अल्कयड फॅटी अॅसिड्स आणि इतर घटक जोडुन संशोधित पॉलिस्टर आहे. ते पॉलीओल्स आणि डायकरबॉक्सिलिक ऍसिड किंवा कार्बोक्जिलिक ऍसिड ऍनाहाइड्रॅड पासून बनलेले आहेत. अल्काड हा शब्द अल्कोहॉल आणि सेंद्रीय ऍसिडमधून मिळविला आहे हे दर्शवून मूळ नाव "एल्सीड" मध्ये बदल केले आहे. फॅटी ऍसिडचा समावेश लवचीक कोटिंग बनविण्यासाठी एक प्रवृत्ती प्रदान करते.
