एम्बर वृक्ष राळ जीवाश्म जीवाणू आहे, निओलिथिक वेळापासून त्याचे रंग आणि नैसर्गिक सौंदर्याबद्दल प्रशंसनीय आहे. रत्नबांधणीसारख्या पुरातन वास्तूपासून सध्यापर्यंत अमूल्य आहेत, एम्बर विविध सजावटीच्या वस्तू बनतात. एम्बरचा वापर लोक औषधांमधील उपचार एजंट म्हणून आणि ज्वेलरी म्हणून, परफ्यूममधील घटक म्हणून केला जातो. त्यांच्या रासायनिक घटकांच्या आधारावर परिभाषित एम्बरचे पाच प्रकार आहेत. कारण तो एक मऊ, चिकट झाड राळ म्हणून उत्पत्ति, एम्बर कधीकधी inclusions म्हणून प्राणी आणि वनस्पती सामग्री समाविष्टीत आहे. कोळशाच्या साहाय्याने घडवलेले अंबरला देखील नितांत असे म्हटले जाते आणि विशेषत: न्यूझीलंडच्या कोळशाच्या किनाऱ्यांत सापडणारे एम्ब्रियी शब्द लागू केले जातात.
