ब्रिटीश सोमालीलँड सध्याच्या उत्तर-पश्चिम सोमालियामध्ये एक ब्रिटिश संरक्षित अधिकारी होता. त्याच्या अस्तित्वाचा बहुतेक भाग, इटालियन सोमालीँड, फ्रेंच सोमालीलँड आणि इथिओपियाने या प्रदेशाची सीमा पार केली होती. इ.स. 1 9 40 ते 1 9 41 पर्यंत इटालियन लोकांचा कब्जा होता आणि इटालियन पूर्व आफ्रिकेचा भाग होता. संरक्षक परिषदेने 1 9 जुलै 1 9 60 रोजी सोमाली गणराज्य स्थापनेसाठी ट्रस्ट टेरीटरी सोमामालियाशी एकीकरण करण्याआधी सोमालॅंड स्टेट म्हणून 26 जून 1 9 60 रोजी स्वातंत्र्य मिळवले. सोमालींडची सरकार ही स्वत: ची घोषित सार्वभौम राज्य आहे जो आंतरराष्ट्रीय पातळीवर मान्यता प्राप्त आहे सोमालियाचा एक स्वायत्त प्रदेश, सोमालीलँड राज्याच्या उत्तराधिकारी म्हणून राज्य म्हणून मानतो.
