चेलेशन एका विशिष्ट प्रकारे वर्णन करते की आयन आणि अणू धातू आम्न बांधतात. इंटरनॅशनल युनियन ऑफ प्युअर अँड अप्लाइड केमिस्ट्रीनुसार, कॉल्लेशनमध्ये पॉलिडेटंट लिगंड आणि एक सेंट्रल अणू या दोन किंवा त्यापेक्षा अधिक स्वतंत्र समन्वय बॉडची निर्मिती किंवा उपस्थिती यांचा समावेश आहे. सहसा या ligands सेंद्रीय संयुगे असतात, त्यांना चल्ंट्स, चेलेटर्स, चीलेटिंग एजंट किंवा सिक्वेस्टरिंग एजंट असे म्हणतात.
