कोलाइड
एक सरबरीत द्रव पदार्थ एक सूक्ष्मदर्शक पदार्थ आहे जो दुसर्या पदार्थांत पसरतो. Dispersed-phase कणांमध्ये अंदाजे 1 आणि 1000 नॅनोमीटरचे व्यास आहे. सामान्यतः अशा कण ऑप्टिकल मायक्रोस्कोपमध्ये सहजपणे दृश्यमान असतात, जरी लहान आकाराच्या श्रेणीत, अल्ट्रामाइक्रोस्कोप किंवा इलेक्ट्रॉन सूक्ष्मदर्शकास आवश्यक होण्याची आवश्यकता असू शकते. या आकाराच्या श्रेणीतील एका विखुरलेल्या अवस्थेसह एकसंध मिश्रणास कोलाइडयन एरोसॉल, कोलायडल इमल्सेस, कोलायडल फोम, कोलायडल डिस्पिरेशन किंवा हायड्रोस्लॉल्स असे म्हटले जाऊ शकते. विखुरलेले अवयव कण किंवा टिपण कोलाइडमध्ये उपस्थित असलेल्या पृष्ठभागावरील रसायनशास्त्रामुळे मोठ्या प्रमाणात प्रभावित होतात. टिंडल इफेक्टमुळे काही कोलोयड्स अर्धपारदर्शक असतात, जे कोलायडमधील कणांद्वारे प्रकाशाचे स्कॅटरिंग होते. इतर colloids अपारदर्शक असू शकतात किंवा थोडा रंग असू शकतात. इंग्रजी शब्दकोशातील colloid व्याख्या
शब्दकोशात सरबजीतची पहिली परिभाषा देखील असे म्हणतात: कोलाइडयन समाधान, कोलाइडडल निलंबन. एक घटक असलेले कण, 10-7 आणि 10-9 मीटर दरम्यान व्यास असलेल्या दुसर्या घटकांच्या सतत टप्प्यासाठी निलंबित केले गेले. या मिश्रणात द्राक्षाचे द्रावण आणि दंड निलंबन यांच्यामध्ये गुणधर्म असतात. कोलाइडची दुसरी परिभाषा म्हणजे अशा मिश्रणातील घन निलंबित अवस्था. कोलाइड थायरॉईड ग्रंथीचा एक चिकट पदार्थ आहे ज्या थायरॉईड ग्रंथीचे संप्रेरक स्त्राव धारण करते.
