कॉम्पटन स्कॅटरिंग हे फ्री चार्ज कण द्वारे फोटॉनची एक फिकादी आहे, सामान्यतः इलेक्ट्रॉन कॉम्पटन प्रभावाची कहाणी, फोटॉनच्या ऊर्जेमध्ये घटते. फोटॉनच्या ऊर्जेचा काही भाग रिलायटिंग इलेक्ट्रॉनकडे हस्तांतरित केला जातो. उलटे कॉम्प्टन स्कॅटरिंग देखील अस्तित्वात आहे, ज्यामध्ये शुल्क आकारले जाणारे कण एखाद्या फोटानला त्याच्या ऊर्जेचा भाग स्थानांतरीत करते.
