इंग्रजी विद्यापीठाची पदवी माध्यमिक शिक्षणाच्या सामान्य प्रमाणपत्राशी संलग्न शाळा कामगिरी निर्देशक आहे. हे परंपरागत शैक्षणिक जीसीएसई विषयातील 5+ ए * -सी ग्रेड मिळविणाऱ्या शाळेतील विद्यार्थ्यांची टक्केवारी मोजते. जीसीएसईच्या जागी इंग्लिश बॅकेअलोरेट सर्टिफिकेट, जे इंग्लिश माध्यमिक शिक्षण व्यवस्थेत दिले जावे या प्रस्तावित शैक्षणिक पात्रतेत गोंधळ करू नये. फेब्रुवारी 2013 मध्ये शैक्षणिक सचिव मायकेल गोवे यांनी जाहीर केले की प्रमाणपत्र भाग पुढे जाणार नाही, आणि जीसीएसई ही कायम राहतील.
