विशेषण फ्रॅन्कोफोन म्हणजे "फ्रेंच-भाषी", विशेषत: प्राथमिक भाषा म्हणून, व्यक्ती, गट किंवा ठिकाणे संदर्भित असो शब्दाचा वापर बहुधा स्थानिक भाषेतील भाषेचा उच्चार म्हणून वापरला जाण्यासाठी वापरला जातो.

शब्दकोशमध्ये फ्रान्स्कोफोनची प्रथम परिभाषा फ्रेंच बोलते असा एक व्यक्ती आहे, स्थानिक भाषा बोलणारा खासदार. फ्रॅन्फोफोनची दुसरी परिभाषा फ्रेंच भाषेत मूळ भाषा म्हणून बोलत आहे. फ्रॅन्कोफोन देखील फ्रेंच भाषा वापरत आहे.
