मायक्रोोडोड हे हार्डवेअर-स्तर सूचनांचे एक स्तर किंवा सेंट्रल प्रोसेसिंग युनिट्समधील उच्च स्तरीय मशीन कोडच्या सूचनांच्या अंमलबजावणीसह डेटा स्ट्रक्चर्स आहे आणि अनेक चॅनेल नियंत्रक, डिस्क कंट्रोलर्स, नेटवर्क इंटरफेस नियंत्रक, नेटवर्क प्रोसेसर, ग्राफिक्स प्रोसेसिंग युनिट आणि अन्य हार्डवेअर. हे विशेष हाय-स्पीड मेमरीमध्ये आहे आणि मशीनच्या सविस्तर सर्किट-लेव्हल ऑपरेशनच्या अनुक्रमांमध्ये सूचना अनुवादित करते. हे मशीनच्या अंमलबजावणीतील घटकांना वेगळे ठेवण्यास मदत करते जेणेकरून सूचना आणखीन मुक्तपणे तयार आणि बदलता येतील. इतर पद्धतींच्या तुलनेत इलेक्ट्रॉनिक सर्किटची गुंतागुंत कमी करताना हे कॉम्पलेक्स मल्टि-टप्प्याक चे निर्देशन करणे शक्य करते. मायक्रोोड लिहायला अनेकदा मायक्रोप्रोग्राफिंग म्हणतात आणि एखाद्या विशिष्ट प्रोसेसर अंमलबजावणीमध्ये मायक्रोोडला काहीवेळा मायक्रोप्रोग्राम असे म्हटले जाते. मॉडर्न मायक्रोोड सामान्यतः प्रोसेसर डिझाइनच्या टप्प्यात इंजिनिअरने लिहीले जातात आणि रॉम किंवा पीएलए संरचना मध्ये संग्रहित केले आहेत, किंवा दोन्हीचे संयोजन. तथापि, एसआरएएम किंवा फ्लॅश स्मृतीमध्ये काही मायक्रोोड ठेवलेल्या मशीन देखील अस्तित्वात असतात.
