विभेदक भूमितीमध्ये, osculating curve हे एका वडिलच्या कुटुंबातील एक विमान वक्र आहे ज्यात दुसर्या वक्रशी संपर्काचा सर्वोच्च शक्य क्रम असतो. जर F फवाराची गुळगुळीत वक्र आहे, तर सी एक चिकट वक्र आहे आणि p हा C वर एक बिंदू आहे, नंतर F वरून एक ओव्हॅक्युलेटिंग वक्र फ मध्ये वळते जे F द्वारे वळते आणि त्याच्या अनेक डेरिव्हेटिव्ह सी च्या डेरिव्हेटिव्ह्जच्या समान पी वर शक्य असेल त्याप्रमाणे लॅटिटकेट मूळ "ओस्कुलेट" या शब्दापासून चुंबन घेण्याकरिता हा शब्द वापरला जातो कारण दोन गोलाई सरळ स्पर्शिकेपेक्षा अधिक घनिष्ठ स्वरूपात एकमेकांशी संपर्क करतात.
