पोस्ट-नारीवाद काही कथित विरोधाभास आणि द्वितीय-लहर नाडीवाद च्या अनुपस्थितीत एक प्रतिक्रिया आहे. पोस्ट-नारीत्व ही संज्ञा दुर्दैवी आहे आणि विसंगत पद्धतीने वापरली जाते. तथापि, सामान्यतः असे मानले जाते की नारीवाद आपल्या समाजात सुधारणा करण्याच्या हेतूने यशस्वी झाला आहे, ज्यामुळे ते नारीवादी संघर्षांचे विस्तारीकरण करण्याच्या तिसऱ्या लहर उद्दिष्टांचा मुळतः विरोधी आहे. ऐतिहासिकदृष्ट्या किंवा पूर्वसमाजाच्या स्त्रियांच्या तुलनेत हे ऐतिहासिकदृष्ट्या वापरले जाणारे होते.
