घनदाट इंधन
सॉलिड इंधन विविध प्रकारचे घन पदार्थ संदर्भित करतो जे ऊर्जेचे उत्पादन करण्यासाठी आणि उष्णता प्रदान करण्यासाठी इंधन म्हणून वापरली जाते, सामान्यत: दहनानंतर सोडले जाते. घनदाट इंधनामध्ये लाकूड, कोळसा, कुजून रुपांतर झालेले वनस्पतिजन्य पदार्थ (सरपणासाठी याचा वापर होतो), कोळसा, हेक्सामाइन इंधन गोळ्या आणि लाकूड, मक्याचे, गहू, राय नावाचे धान्य आणि इतर धान्ये इत्यादीचे गोरे यांचा समावेश आहे. घन-इंधन रॉकेट तंत्रज्ञानही घनकचरा वापरते. आगगाडी निर्माण करण्यासाठी अनेक वर्षांपासून ठोस इंधनांचा उपयोग मानवतेने केला आहे. कोळसा इंधन स्त्रोत होता ज्यामुळे औद्योगिक क्रांती, गोळीबार भट्टीतून, वाफेवर इंजिन चालवणे शक्य होते. स्टीम इंजिने चालविण्यासाठी लाकडाचा मोठ्या प्रमाणावर वापर केला जातो. वीज निर्मितीत आजही पिट आणि कोळसा वापरला जातो. विषारी उत्सर्जन असुरक्षित पातळीमुळे काही शहरी भागांमध्ये काही ठोस इंधनांचा वापर मर्यादित किंवा प्रतिबंधित आहे. लाकडासारख्या इतर सघन इंधनांचा वापर गरम तंत्रज्ञान म्हणून वाढत आहे आणि चांगल्या दर्जाची इंधन सुधारते आहे. काही भागात, धूर नसलेला कोळसा नेहमी वापरला जाणारा एकमेव ठोस इंधन असतो. आयरलँडमध्ये, कुजून रुपांतर झालेले वनस्पतिजन्य पदार्थ (सरपणासाठी याचा वापर होतो) विटांना धूर नसलेला इंधन म्हणून वापरले जातात. ते कोळसा अग्निशमनसाठी देखील वापरतात. द्रव इंधने आणि गॅसयॉयल इंधनांच्या तुलनेत सॉलिड इंधन हे वेगळे आहे.
