On to zauważył i kornie ich błagał, aby mu tylko życie darowali w zamian za wydanie skarbów. Ale żeglarze nie dali się zmiękczyć, tylko rozkazali mu, żeby albo sam sobie życie odebrał, po czym na lądzie otrzyma grób, albo bezzwłocznie wskoczył do morza.
