SPOE s.f. (इह्हा.) दुष्काळ मध्ये सागरी मासा लांबीच्या मोठे जबडा-आकार असलेल्या जबडाच्या व्यासापेक्षा लठ्ठपणा नसलेल्या क्षिपिइएड (स्वोर्डफिश) याला एक्सिपिअस ग्लॅडीस म्हणून ओळखले जाते. त्याच्या लांबीपैकी 1/3, दातं-मुक्त, सुरक्षीत कडा जसे सुरवातीस आणि खालच्यापेक्षा लहान. हे प्रामुख्याने भूमध्य सागर आणि अटलांटिक मध्ये उडते, नाजूक पांढर्या मांसाबरोबर उपभोग घेणारे मासे म्हणून अत्यंत मूल्यवान आहे; तो. पेस स्पाडा; फ्रान्स. अन्न म्हणून उपयुक्त असा एक मासा; इंग्रजी. अन्न म्हणून उपयुक्त असा एक मासा; अंकुर. Pește marin din fam. xiphiide (pești-sabie), numit și peste-cu-spadă sau xifie (Xiphias gladius), cu un corp fusiform de până la 4 m lungime, ca adult lipsit de solzi, caracterizat prin maxilarul superior alungit în formă de spadă, aprox. 1/3 din lungimea sa, lipsit de dinți, cu marginile ascuțite ca niște cuțite, iar cel inferior mult mai scurt. Se pescuiește preponderent în Marea Mediterană și în Atlantic, fiind foarte apreciat ca pește de consum, cu carne albă, delicată; it. pesce spada; fr. espadon; engl. swordfish; germ. Schwertfisch; v. sabie.
