Sungai Benué
Sungai Benué, yang sebelum ini dikenali sebagai Sungai Chadda atau Tchadda, merupakan anak sungai utama Sungai Niger. Sungai ini lebih kurang 1,400 kilometer dan hampir boleh dilayari semasa musim panas. Akibatnya, ia adalah laluan pengangkutan penting di kawasan yang mengalirnya. Ia naik di Dataran Tinggi Adamawa dari utara Cameroon, dari mana ia mengalir ke barat, dan melalui bandar Garoua dan Lagdo Reservoir, ke Nigeria di selatan gunung Mandara, dan melalui Jimeta, Ibi dan Makurdi sebelum bertemu Niger di Lokoja. Anak sungai yang besar adalah Sungai Gongola dan Mayo Kébi, yang menghubungkannya dengan Sungai Logone semasa banjir. Anak sungai lain adalah Sungai Taraba dan Sungai Katsina Ala. Pada titik pertemuan, Benué melebihi Niger dengan jumlah. Dalam dekad berikut, air larian kedua-dua sungai menurun dengan ketara kerana pengairan. Sungai Benué membanjiri pada bulan Oktober 2012, mengakibatkan peningkatan besar populasi ular berbisa di Daerah Duguri, Daerah Kerajaan Tempatan Alkaleri, Bauchi State. Laporan Julai 2013 menunjukkan bahawa lebih daripada 200 orang di daerah itu telah mati akibat snakebite.
